Monday markets itself as an 'AI work platform' with AI assistant, AI agents, AI app builder, and AI workflows on top of a connected data layer and integrations. That overlaps hard with Anthropic’s trajectory: Cowork for non-technical work, Managed Agents for production agents, connectors/plugins/skills for enterprise tool access, computer use for acting across apps, and file creation/office tool workflows. The brutal truth: if your wedge is 'AI woven into work,' Claude is increasingly the fabric. Monday is not dead because it owns the operational system of record, templates, automations, apps, and enterprise rollouts. But the shiny AI layer is under sustained attack.
Biggest historical hit
The clearest hit is 'Introducing Cowork: Claude Code for the rest of your work' (2026-01-12). Monday’s homepage pitches a built-in AI assistant, AI workflows, and agents that execute cross-functional work. Cowork directly moves Claude into non-technical workplace execution with file access, connectors, scheduled tasks, and multi-step task completion—basically eating the horizontal AI copilot/orchestrator story Monday is pushing.
What still protects them
Monday still has defensibility in the system beneath the model: structured workflows, boards, forms, automations, permissioning, departmental products, unified operational data, integrations, and enterprise distribution. It is a place work already lives, not just a chat interface bolted onto tools. Their strongest protection is that they are orchestration software with embedded AI, while Anthropic is becoming a very strong AI layer that still usually needs a host environment or integration surface. Also, Monday openly supports 'any AI model' and explicitly mentions Claude, GPT, and Gemini, which lets them ride model progress instead of betting on one frontier lab.

Monday sells a built-in AI assistant, AI workflows, and agents that run operational work. Cowork gives Claude folder access, connectors, and the ability to complete non-technical multi-step tasks, which directly overlaps with Monday’s AI work platform positioning for project, ops, marketing, and business workflows.
Monday is explicitly pushing 'AI Agents' and an 'unlimited workforce.' Managed Agents lowers the cost and complexity of building and deploying production agents at scale, which compresses the differentiation of agent infrastructure and makes standalone agent stories less special. It hits the AI-agent layer, not Monday’s broader workflow database and app platform.
This one is extra awkward because Monday.com is explicitly named among interactive tools in Claude. If Claude can directly interact with Monday and other work apps, Anthropic can become the control plane above Monday instead of competing head-on below it. That weakens Monday’s claim that its own assistant/agents are the primary AI interface for work.
Monday promotes app building, docs, planning, reporting, and AI-assisted creation of work artifacts. Claude’s file creation/editing plus code execution moves directly into generating spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and other operational outputs that Monday’s AI suite also wants to own. This chips away at AI productivity features around the core platform.
Sonnet 4.6 improves coding, computer use, long-context reasoning, agent planning, knowledge work, and design—the exact capabilities needed to power assistants, app builders, and workflow agents. Monday says it can connect to Claude, GPT, and Gemini, so this both threatens their native AI differentiation and benefits them as a downstream integrator. Net effect: pressure on margins and uniqueness, but not total displacement.
This is less a direct product collision and more a go-to-market accelerant for Claude adoption through consultancies and partners. It raises competitive pressure in enterprise AI transformation, but it does not directly replace Monday’s workflow operating system. The blast radius is indirect unless buyers start preferring Claude-centered deployments over platform-native AI.
