Anthropic now has multiple concrete signals pointing at that exact workflow:

- growing ability to operate across tools,
- and even a specific Hex integration.

That is not abstract platform risk. That's product overlap.

Why Hex isn't fully cooked

Hex still has real protection in the analytics system around the model:

Hex's moat is not "we have AI chat."

If they have a moat, it's in the analytics operating system around the chat:
- trusted semantic modeling and curated business logic,
- notebook-plus-app workflow for analysts,
- reproducible SQL/Python analysis,
- collaboration, review, scheduling, and publishing,
- enterprise deployment and governance,
- and existing adoption inside data teams.

That matters because many enterprises do not just want answers.
They want:
- auditable logic,
- reusable assets,
- governed metrics,
- and a place where analysts build and maintain decision workflows.

If Hex remains the place where the trusted context is authored and the business logic lives, Claude may become a layer on top of Hex rather than a full replacement.

If Hex is mostly selling "chat with your data," though, that's a weak place to stand.
